"I always wanted to be a writer. From the beginning, my life has been full of books. My parents read to me all the time. I was enrolled in every book club that existed. Every day I sat on the porch waiting for the mailman to bring my newest adventure. Unfortunately, I didn't get to read every book that came. That's because sometimes, Annette would get to them first and color all over the pages -- after she ate all my Play-Doh. To this day, I refuse to let Annette borrow any of my books -- or any of my Play-Doh. But when we sit down to work, I am happy to let her be the one to operate the pencil." |

"Operating the pencil gives you a lot of power. But I have to admit that I never believed that I would grow up to be a writer. I couldn't ask for a better sister - But I could ask for a better writing partner -- one who would do all the work and leave me alone so that I could color all day -- and eat Play-Doh. But everybody's got to have a job. And since I'm a little too old to be a clown any more, writing's pretty cool. What could be better than sitting around all day, making up stories with my very best friends. And making up stories is what we do best. It always has been. These days, we get to tell our crazy stories to lots of other people too. " |
